To sink into the multilayers of matter, it is necessary to face its inaccessible, relational, and agentive dimensions, capable of acting beyond human intelligibility. Recognising this realm of insensitive possibilities carries us into a blind flight toward dimensions that question the exclusions imposed by the norms of sense.
The dislocation of proceeding without knowing what is happening becomes a practice for awakening a stratified and vibrant vision, founded on trust in the ungraspable and on a collective making that goes beyond desires of understanding and appropriation. Collaboration is the excitement toward something not yet unearthed.
FLY BLIND is situated in a multi-storey car park, entombed over the debris of a branch of the Longhella stream. The floor is marked by manholes, possible access points to other dimensions: elements that, in the exhibition, intertwine with the works, since the works fired in the electric kiln are placed on the electricity manholes, those fired with gas on the gas manholes, and the works composed of glass bottles and vials on the manholes that transport water. This system becomes a dismantling of forms and a collaborative reworking of matter with space, where co-acting is a political gesture.
The works of Alberto Scodro and Antonella Fiumara are receptor impulses that incorporate vibrations and abandoned materials, generating environments that do not ask to be known but to be lived. They arise from collaborative modalities guided by letting things happen, by energies and material processes that take over. They honour matter by assembling rejected yet vital substances, impenetrable to a sensibility accustomed to clarity. The emerging presences derive from many interactions, among them the firing process, which re-signifies the fragments.
Let us be guided by Fiumara’s and Scodro’s practice in this blind flight through the imaginaries of the insensible, reading in the fusion of sediments and scraps new narratives that act beyond all expectation.
