The installation was set up on a decommissioned bridge along the highway Marostica-Bassano del Grappa.
Through wires in tension, two bicycles on opposite ends of the bridge are raised off the ground by their front tires. The braided string, seen from the highway, creates the visual effect of an ‘X’, conveying the notion of a barrier, of impossibility, of the elimination and futility of a bridge on a road out of use.
Gold leaf covering the guardrails along the bridge unites with the wire to act as arrows, both increasing the tension and literally highlighting the work.
